The Agriculture and Environment Committee has nominated three weeds as case studies - Giant Rat's Tail Grass, Prickly Acacia and Fireweed — but will also look at any other plants causing concerns for landholders.
Committee Deputy Chair Tony Perrett said the inquiry would focus heavily on the effectiveness of government weed-control programs.
“Certainly as an elected representative and as a grazier myself I understand the concern of many many landholders right across Queensland that invasive plants are certainly something that's not only starting to have an economic impact on the profitability of properties but certainly on the values as well.
